Resiliency and Wellbeing Tools for Student Academic and Life Success Workshop

Professional development (PD)

Posted: 27 March 2019
Notice reference #: 1H9sd1

This workshop builds on the findings of ERO, NZCER, current research and Sir Mason Durie’s model of Māori wellbeing; integrating the tools of wellbeing, resiliency, growth mindset and mindfulness. The combination of these tools provides a wrap-around template for student and staff resiliency and wellbeing.

PLD facilitator, Jon Winder has spent decades in schools, working with educators integrating the affective aspects of learning with the cognitive, so that teachers and senior teams can support students to enjoy the process of learning effectively to attain academic success and live meaningful, balanced and fulfilling lives.

This workshop demonstrates the value of using the 4 components of hauora: wairua, heart/mind, physical and whānau, as part of the culture of each classroom, supported by a mindful disposition, a positive mindset and resiliency tools. These interlinking tools form a perfect platform to support deep learning, student focus, high creativity, enjoyment and connected learning. During the workshop participants experience the benefits of these tools as practitioners themselves, able to encourage their students to integrate them into their learning and lives.
