A Treaty of Waitangi responsive curriculum in action

Teachers and leaders often find effectively meeting the wider goals of ERO indicators and  developing policies and curriculum that meet the Treaty of Waitangi expectations challenging. This course will expose teachers to new knowledge and effective strategies to teach these histories to school students across various curriculum in order to more effectively meet school-wide Treaty obligations. The world views and knowledge bases of tangata whenua and pākehā will be explained and significant historical events will be explored from both these perspectives. Participants will be able to identify some practical ideas, activities and strategies to engage students of all ethnicities in these concepts in order to deepen their understanding of our past.
