Supported Learning for Children with Learning Disabilities and Down Syndrome
Maree Kirk from the Bay of Plenty Down Syndrome Association and Margi Leech co-present this day to provide teachers, SENCO's, TA's and parents with evidence based practical strategies and resources to use with your students.
The seminar covers strategies to support learning in the inclusive classroom, the specific learning profile of students with Down syndrome and learning disability, use of visual supports with a focus on numeracy and literacy. Maree is the developer and convener of supporting teaching practice for students with learning disability and down syndrome NZ programme. Both Margi and Maree have considerable background experience, in both health, research and being educators and parents of children with learning disabilities and down syndrome. Maree is in the final stages of completing her doctorate on supporting the learning of children.
