Middle Leadership First Time Round

This course provides an opportunity for those new to curriculum middle leadership in secondary schools (HoD, assistant HoD,TiC) to explore strategies and ways of working that enable them to effectively lead a team towards achieving  improved outcomes for students in their curriculum area. In particular the course will focus on strategies for addressing leadership challenges, identifying priorities in building relational trust and developing the use of data to plan for learning. There will be the opportunity to make connections and discuss current challenges with others new to curriculum middle leadership. Learning from this course could contribute to a leadership inquiry.

Learning Outcomes

At the completion of the course participants will:

1. Develop knowledge of  strategies that can be used to address challenging situations in middle leadership.

2. Identify priorities in building relational trust. 

3. Understand how middle leaders can use data to support planning to improve outcomes for students.
