2018 Eureka! Science Teachers Awards
The importance of the contribution and role of teachers to STEM education; and the development of science communication skills among students; is recognised by the Eureka! Science Teachers Awards.
The Awards worth $2500 each and an Award Certificate were presented by the Governor-General at our National Finals Awards Dinner for the first time in 2017. The inaugural recipients were Dr Heather Meikle of Palmerston North Girls High School and Gillian McDonald of Scots College.
The criteria require teachers to demonstrate commitment to the mission of the Eureka! Trust -
“To increase young New Zealanders interest in STEM subjects and to foster young leaders who will through their knowledge of science, technology, engineering or mathematics, persuasive communication skills and their entrepreneurial vision will make "New Zealand, the most beautiful, stimulating and exciting place in the world in which to live".
Nominations will close on 30 July 2018.
