2018 UWC Scholarships (Overseas IB Boarding Schools)

Student competitions and scholarships New Zealand (nationwide)

Posted: 09 October 2017
Notice reference #: 1H9fNN

Do you teach Y11 or 12? Do you have a student who is bright, active, motivated to make the world a better place, and who would thrive in an international environment?

Applications are now open for UWC New Zealand 2018 scholarships.

UWCs (United World Colleges) are a group of schools which bring diverse students together from around the world for a challenging programme of international affairs, community social service, and the IB curriculum, covering the last two years of secondary school.

New Zealand's 2018-entry scholarships are available to UWCs in Germany, USA, Japan, India and Armenia. Scholarships may be full (including all fees, flights, visas and pocket money), part, or unfunded, depending on financial needs assessment. Scholars are selected on merit, not ability to pay.

Applicants must be New Zealand citizens, ordinarily resident in New Zealand, who will be aged 16 or 17 on 1 September 2018, and who will have completed NCEA Level 1 (or equivalent) by January 2018 or earlier.

Applicants should be expecting NCEA Level 1 endorsed with excellence (or if not, be in the school's academic top 5%), be physically active, and involved in their school or local community.

Application forms and more information are available at

Part 1 (basic contact information) due: 10 November 2017

Full application due: 8 December 2017.

(Applicants who have missed these deadlines are encouraged to contact or check the website, as the deadlines are often extended).
