This course is designed to guide teachers, middle leaders or senior leaders through the processes required for effective assessment and moderation of students in any NCEA subject at any level. This will include; moderation mythbusting, identifying and locating relevant resources,unpacking achievement standards, aligning teaching and learning with assessment, developing or adapting assessment tasks and schedules, critiquing tasks before use, marking for consistency and how to prepare post-marking samples for external moderation.
At the completion of the course participants will be able to:
1. Describe clear procedures that enable all teachers to be clear, confident and accurate in their assessment practices.
2. Evaluate current practices in their department (school) and make improvements as a result of learnings from this course.
