Teacher Facilitation of Health Education Learning Activities, with Jenny Robertson
This workshop will support teachers new to teaching health education who are seeking to develop specific health education pedagogy. Teachers attending this course will participate in and experience a range of interactive teaching and learning activities using current teaching resources. These activities will utilise popular contexts such as mental health and resilience, alcohol, drugs and sexuality..
Attention will be given to the teaching and learning process and the techniques used when facilitating a variety of health education activities. A range of contexts to which the activities can be adapted will be explored along with developing an understanding of what learning achievement looks and sounds like when students engage in this curriculum area.
Participants will be supported to understand how and where the HPE underlying concepts are being developed in these activities. Strategies will be given to provide ways that activities focused on controversial and sensitive health education contexts can be facilitated ethically and safely by teachers.
