Building Connections and Making Links Between ECE and the New Entrant Setting
A new PD workshop initiative seeking to join ECE and new entrant teachers by providing opportunities to collaborate, reciprocally network, and build connections between these sectors. Links will be made between Te Whāriki and the Primary NZ Curriculum, exploring dispositions and key competencies with consideration as to how these correspondence within our settings, articulating and sharing perspectives, reflecting on what contributes to effective and successful transitions for children.
Ideas will be exchanged concerning activities, resources, equipment and websites that are regularly used, with discussion around Similarities-differences in roles play by ECE and NE teachers.
Knowledge of children’s schemas-urges will be shared, play based activities explored, especially activities that develop foundation skills. Discussion and comparison of assessment approaches, teacher-directed activities including mat times, with investigation and reflection on data from a new entrant teacher survey.
