Name a Deep Sea Observatory, and win a trip to Christchurch !

Student competitions and scholarships Bay of Plenty, Gisborne

Posted: 02 October 2017
Notice reference #: 1H9f10

Scientists will be sending two deep sea observatories below the seafloor to measure earthquakes in early 2018 - and they need a name!

Come up with a high energy, relevant name and persuade us via an A3 poster (PDF), or a 1-minute video explaining why yours is the best. The design of your name could be the one chosen to go on one of the two observatories which will measure important earthquake signals for a decade, deep in the ocean near Gisborne.

The top four win a trip from Gisborne to Wellington or Christchurch in early March 2018 to tour the ship RV Joides Resolution.

Open to individuals in Y9–12.
