Attachment and Temperament
Ever wondered why two children can have the same parents and upbringing but their personalities be the proverbial ‘chalk and cheese’? Regardless of the imprint of biology, environment, parents and culture, every child is born with their own unique personality or temperament which display differences in emotion, motor, reactivity and self-regulation.
Attachment relationships are vitally important in the unfolding of the emotional and social development of a child during their early years of life. The key ingredient to developing a secure attachment relationship is sensitive, consistent responsiveness to a child’s needs.
This course will help you to understand temperament and how this affects your teaching. It will also show you the importance of attachment in young children and delve into how temperament can affect these developing relationships.
