U3 Workshop for Teachers and Parents: Supporting Freedom, Self Discipline and Language

Professional development (PD) Auckland

Posted: 31 August 2017
Notice reference #: 1H9eLc

A two day workshop for parents and education professionals:

Day one will focus on providing understanding and skills to encourage positive behaviour in young children. Learn how to communicate with children to support and develop their self-discipline – how to talk so they will listen.

Discover practical strategies to establish routines, set expectations and provide tamariki the freedom within boundaries necessary for them to thrive.

Strive to be the best parent and educator you want to be by learning techniques to avoid negative behaviour, both in yourself and the children in your care. Support the natural development of the child by understanding the core tenants of Montessori for this age group:

  • Movement
  • Communication
  • Independence
  • Self-Discipline

Day two will provide an introduction to implementing some of Maria Montessori’s wonderful insights at home. You will learn the importance of simplification, fostering independence, practical life, slowing down and being patient, and why these are so important. Discuss how to practically apply these principles through all of the stages from baby to pre-schooler in the home.

We will also focus on Supporting Language Development in 0 to 3-years being the most important years for laying the foundation of exceptional language development. We will discover a few key principles that can greatly assist this process and explore the importance of slowing down, and using a normal voice with rich vocabulary to talk about the real world.

Most importantly, engaging in conversation – talking to, not at, reading with, not to, etc. will be discussed.

The workshop will focus on practical application of these principles in various settings, discussing numerous everyday examples and use of everyday equipment.

Full registration: $540.
