Koru Games - South Island Y7–8 Three-Day Sports Tournament
The Koru Games is a three day sporting tournament for South Island Y7–8 students. They have been developed to provide these students with an opportunity to develop their individual skills while playing team sport for their school.
We believe that children with the opportunity to compete in this event will leave the event better prepared for their future sporting development and endeavours. Our focus on individual skill development will be evident in the format of each sport. We acknowledge that competition will be inherent in the games culture while a strong ethical base “Fair Play” will also be reinforced.
The sports included in 2017 are badminton, basketball, boccia (for physically impaired athletes), football (soccer), lawn bowls, netball, rugby sevens, table tennis, tennis, touch and volleyball. All sports are hosted at Selwyn District venues and make best use of all three days of the tournament.
