Embedding Oral Language Across the Curriculum, with Sheena Cameron and Louise Dempsey
This workshop aims to support teachers to include more quality ‘learning talk’ in classrooms and to embed purposeful oral language opportunities for students in a range of curriculum contexts. The course content will include research-based ideas, activities and support material to translate theory into classroom practice.
The workshop will cover:
• Student speaking and listening skills
• Teacher planning for talk: establishing routines and expectations for student talk
• Grouping students
• Vocabulary learning research and ideas for teaching
