Getting Difficult Things Said - Safely and with Respect

Professional development (PD) Auckland

Posted: 11 July 2017
Notice reference #: 1H9dZn

In any school community, things can occasionally become challenging and difficult. Every now and then, personalities and priorities will differ, different perspectives and attitudes will clash; this is a part of life.
When these occasional disagreements do arise, the need for honest, respectful communication becomes paramount. Yet many people struggle with conflict, and if poorly handled, problems can quickly escalate… whereas when these personal differences are skilfully managed and respectfully resolved , the school environment becomes one of openness, trust, and mutual understanding.
This enjoyable, participative and popular workshop addresses handling “difficult” situations (with parents, students, colleagues etc) in a variety of practical, everyday situations. Those attending will be able to use reflective listening techniques, understand the power of body language, attend to cultural differences and skilfully cope with anger – of others, and their own!. Great tips around enhancing personal well-being and developing resilience will also be included.
