As we approach the end of 2017, I want to take the opportunity to thank you all for your work this year.

The work that you do every day makes a difference for the wellbeing and learning outcomes for children and young people. You are at the forefront of delivering an equitable and excellent education system.
It’s been a big year for all of us. Looking back on 2017, we have shared some great successes and we’ve also met challenges along the way. We are able to rise to these challenges and celebrate these successes because of teachers and leaders who are passionate about ensuring that children’s learning and wellbeing are always top priority.
I know that 2018 will be another busy year, and with the new Government it’s likely there will be a number of changes in the education sector. The Ministry of Education is working with the Government to implement its priorities, and we will continue to keep you informed and involved in this.
I wish you a well-deserved break with your friends and whānau this holiday season.
Ngā mihi nui
